Example – The Comfort Angel Box in use: At the beginning of a funeral service, all mourners take a wooden angel and colored pencils (available separately) from the Comfort Angel Box. During the ceremony, they can decorate or inscribe the angel with a final greeting, thought, or wish for the deceased. At the end of the funeral service, all attendees go forward one by one and place the consolation angel on the coffin. Each consolation angel has an adhesive dot on the back, so it adheres to the coffin or urn. This mourning ritual offers each individual the opportunity to say their personal farewell with a small gesture and then leave the funeral hall. Alternatively, the angels can be placed on a provided, velvet-decorated table and then used later as grave goods during the urn burial. It would also be possible to give each mourner a consoling angel as a keepsake, as is customary when distributing memorial cards. It is also possible to hand over any number of comfort angels to relatives in advance of the funeral service, giving them the opportunity to creatively design the angel themselves and attach it to the coffin or urn as described above, or to give it to the mourners.
